Laura is a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD), a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and an Illinois Registered Interior Designer with over 27 years experience in design.
Laura earned a B.S. in Interior Design from the F.I.D.E.R. accredited, Southern Illinois University, with an emphasis in the architectural components of interiors. Immediately out of school she worked for a Chicago interiors firm, Interprise, designing commercial office interiors. She has worked with, and under the direction of several architects over the years, giving her a well-rounded experience. In 1997, she moved into the residential arena of design and began working at a high end, residential design-build firm, on the North Shore. There, her passions for residential-architectural design were fueled, and she excelled, ultimately being promoted to Director of Design.
In 2006, she began Arkiteriors, with the approach that well executed projects, are grounded in the belief that synergy between homeowner, designer and builders, produce the most successful remodeling projects. Her experiences, through working with architects, carpenters, vendors and craftspeople have proven invaluable resulting in a mutual respect for the expertise everyone contributes to a project.
Her design diversity can be seen in her pro bono work at Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Grayslake, IL where she lead the design team in the aesthetic decisions in the new Church building and added liturgical design to her repertoire. At Allendale Association, she designed a new kitchen for one of the homes.
Attention to detail, creative design solutions and comprehensive communication, concluding with a happy customer is Laura’s goal. With a warm and friendly nature, she instills confidence in her customers, resulting in strong relationships and functionally styled, timeless and comfortable home environments.
A married mom and a nana, Laura loves spending time with her family. Beach walks, biking, antiquing and treasure shopping are bonus moments.
Her personal studio time might include painting furniture, fiber art, or exploring other creative avenues.
She enjoys traveling and favorite places include Door County Wisconsin, the Southeast U.S., and especially her new home, North Carolina.
